"... Australia, land of kangaroos, crocodiles, Ayers Rock, the Great Barrier Reef and Trevor Courtney. Trevor, a Huna Teacher and Counselor has just put out a meditation tape called Shamanic Trance. He also has another one due out very soon called Angelic Awakening. He sent Serge a copy and King said it was very good."
from Aloha International newsletter.
Dear Trevor,
Thank
you for all the wonderful work you are doing spreading the Aloha
philosophy and Huna and thank you for the music CD's. I enjoy
them immensely and have been using them in the office and in
the car as I drive around the island. Keep up the great work.
Aloha,
Serge Kahili King,

LIVING
NOW! MAGAZINE
When I
first listened to these CD's I must admit I was expecting something
quite different - frenzied drumming and wild noises. Instead this
is gentle, peaceful, mood-altering music which I never tire of listening
to.
I have
played the CD's constantly over the past few months and every time
I hear something which provokes a new insight and image for me. The
music is subtle and involving, not intrusive at all. It provides
focus and helps me keep my attention in the present.
I have
listened so often and in so many different situations that now the
CD's have an immediate effect. It helps me regain my focus and is
calming and invigorating. I have listened while working while riding
an exercise bike and to clam down and still my mind before going
to sleep and most often while just sitting quietly helping to restore
balance and equanimity

New Age
music has long been a favourite for massage music. As a rule, there
are no vocals, the music is soft and dream-like, and because there
is no recognition effect it does not command the clients attention.
These
two cassettes, produced locally in Australia, fit the bill perfectly.
They have a constant theme that varies only slightly throughout the
length of the cassette, and introduce "dream-like" instrumentation
that helps waft the client away into another world.
"Shamanic
Trance" is my personal favourite. An insistent bass thumping
in a slow, hypnotic tempo sets the relaxation theme, and is overlaid
by atmospheric woodwind sounds. A hint of a distant choir helps
set the mood, which is vaguely Indian in feel. The tape length
is 37 minutes, and the music is repeated on side 2, so an auto-reverse
cassette player would be called for to cover an hours massage.
(An added bonus is the Huna philosophy on the insert - example "the
world is what you think it is")
"Angelic
Awakening" is the more up-beat of the two. It uses a persistent piano
theme with a "reedy" background throughout its 44 minute running
length (repeated on side 2) as it drifts lightly through flute, voice
and organ accompaniment. Of course, while I mention instruments,
the actual sounds are synthesised: they approximate the various instruments,
the actual sounds are synthesised: they approximate the various instruments
but are not the same. Although this cassete is more lively than the
other it is still relatively slow, steady music that suits massage
very well - the insistent theme having a hypnotic effect.
Both CD's
keep a constant dynamic - there are no surprises here - and consequently
some clients may find them uninteresting. I suspect they were originally
designed as an aid to meditation.
In summary,
two CD's that are worth adding to your collection as an aid in producing
that half-awake, half-asleep state of the perfect relaxation massage.
